The record is here to make official source material easier to find and follow. These notes explain how to read it and how to tell us when it needs fixing.

One essential distinction.A dated entry reports what an authority published at that time. It is not a current safety certificate, a rating or a verdict on a business.

What the record means

Aftertaste is an independent project, not a food safety authority. We have not registered a company for it. Entries are dated summaries of published official material. A “Source-reported” label means the outlet name and locality follow the source; it does not mean we independently confirmed the exact branch.

Conditions and official actions can change. Check each entry's date, status history and original source before relying on it. A place missing from the directory has no implied safety status.

Sources and attribution

Each entry links to its official source or an identified archive of that source. We work to preserve the source's meaning while making it searchable. The linked authority and third-party sites remain responsible for their own material and availability. If a link breaks, the record may still show the last dated information we captured.

Corrections

Found a wrong outlet match, missing update, broken source or misleading summary? Use Corrections or email us. We review reports against the source and date public corrections when we change a record. We do not accept payment to remove or alter a finding.

Using the material

You may link to public pages. Facts and official source material have their own provenance and may have separate reuse rules; Aftertaste does not grant rights in material it does not own. Please ask before reproducing substantial portions of our original writing, artwork or page design. There is no open data licence for this site at present.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the record accurate and available, but cannot promise uninterrupted access or that a dated entry describes current conditions. We may update these terms as the project changes and will mark the new date here. These terms do not take away rights that applicable law gives you.
