Umani Foods International

In a post dated 20 November 2024, the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana reported inspecting Umani Foods International, Katedan, on 19 November 2024 and said its licence was suspended. Its findings are quoted below.

  “The premises was found to be running without any name board and address details displayed at the premises. The FBO initially obstructed the entry of food safety officials for inspection.”

• Colours and additives

  “Synthetic food colour (Tatrazine) 50kg was found in store room and suspected of being used in Ginger garlic paste manufacturing. Hence seized.”

• Premises hygiene

  “⁠Water stagnation observed near cleaning and grinding areas. Cobwebs observed on walls and Ceiling.”

• Premises hygiene

  “⁠The manufacturing premises found to highly unhygienic, kept open to outside premises from the backside.”

• Food handlers

  “⁠Food handlers were found without hair caps, gloves and aprons.”

• Records and certificates

  “⁠Pest control records for premises, Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and water analysis reports for water used as an ingredient is not available with FBO.”
